Thermo-hydrodynamic Airflow Behavior Analysis in Solar Chimney Device

A numerical methodology has been developed to analyze the thermo-hydrodynamic aspect of airflow occurring in solar chimney power plants (SCPP) according some dominant parameters. The general curvilinear coordinates finite volume method (GCCFVM), which is necessary case turbulent flow through complex geometries, used this work. governing equations describing steady state fluid are solved numerically using technique. It shown that tower dimensions control directly hydrodynamic field. However, collector thermal field and indirectly demonstrated radiation influences strongly positively by increasing mass rate. decreases with increase ambient temperature then system more efficient low temperature. Indeed, rate increases from 0.8 kg/s up approximately 2 when varies between 200 W/m2 1000 for fixed value 30 °C. When 10 °C 50 °C, slightly a linear manner 1.7 1.5 intensity 600 W/m2. Contrasting other studies, conclusion based on simplified analytical models, affects adversely performance SCPP decreasing This should be taken into consideration analyzing models dedicated prediction plant performance.
